As demand for security and stability increases globally, and the lines between external and internal aspects of security are increasingly blurred, the scope for cooperation among Strategic Partners – such as Canada and the EU – increases. Against this background, the Delegation of the European Union to Canada organizes the 2016 edition of the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) Symposium on 28 April in Ottawa. The Symposium is an opportunity for the security and defence community on both sides of the Atlantic to discuss possibilities for closer cooperation among Strategic Partners in response to international security challenges and within the framework of peace-keeping operations.
The Symposium, building on the positive experience of two previous events in 2014 and 2015, will provide a platform for key experts and decision-makers from the EU and Canada to debate on security and defence cooperation, notably in multilateral settings, and on Women, Peace and Security within the framework of the UN Security Council resolution 1325.
